About The Experience
Join Bloodroot staff and alumni for a delicious 4 day, 3 night retreat at the beautiful Watershed Center in Millerton, NY.
As those who have begun the Bloodroot journey, we will be diving deep into a space that is intentionally curated for our alum. Centered on themes of body, pleasure, coming home to ourselves and embodying the liberation we want to cultivate in ourselves and in the world, it's going to be a powerful time of remembering who we are.

Each one of you have been an integral part of weaving Bloodroot into the offering that it is today. Starting with photo sessions in Rachel's tiny backyard studio to several iterations of day long and then multi-day retreats, you all have been there for Bloodroot's becoming.
This is why we are SO excited to announce this unique offering for our alumni. We will be gathering to touch into what you experienced then and where you are now in your journey home to yourself.
This unique Alumni Retreat offering includes:
-Connecting with yourself and your journey home to your body and connecting with other beautiful past participants of Bloodroot.
-Daily multi-dimensional workshops designed just for our alum. Workshop themes include:
- embodiment + somatics
- pleasure, sensuality + erotic power
- healing arts
- earth honoring + relationship
-A personalized art project with your favorite image from your previous Bloodroot Session.
-Evening fire pits, creative sharing and dance parties.
-A supportive circle of powerful humans.
-Licensed psychotherapist on staff.
-We are serious when it comes to food! The retreat center staff prepares yummy meals and snacks for retreat participants with plentiful gluten free, dairy free, vegan and vegetarian options available.
-Warm, cozy beds in shared rooms in a beautiful farmhouse.
Add-on Bloodroot Session:
Interested in having another Bloodroot Session? The photography session is an additional fee and will include a private, hourlong Bloodroot session with a witness, props and abundant gender expansive, all body wardrobe options.
Pre-Retreat:
-We will have an optional Collective Orientation virtual gathering to help you prepare for our time together and connect with other retreat participants
Post-Retreat:
-Private Collective Witness gathering on Thursday, Nov. 14th from 7:00-9:30pm EST to process and view the powerful images that were created together.

How has Bloodroot changed since I last did it?
The essence of Bloodroot is still the same and if you were there at the beginning you'll find that we have made a lot of changes. The retreat itself follows an arc of bringing the participants through a carefully curated experience.
The retreat container begins before we even arrive by gathering online for our Collective orientation a few weeks before we gather in person. Upon arrival at the retreat house, we take generous time at to build our connection as a group and settle ourselves into the experience before photo sessions even begin. They are no longer held during workshops so you can have the full retreat experience. We have also incorporated communal evening activities and a very powerful workshop on sensuality and expression. The experience isn't over when the retreat ends as we still gather for our Collective Witnessing, one-on-one sessions to help choose what you might want printed (more info below). Angela also offers a 6 week integration circle post witnessing for an additional fee. Your feedback has helped us to evolve into an offering that we are SO proud of.
RETREAT Staff
Rachel Liu
Rachel (they/she) serves as the Bloodroot photographer, creator of Bloodroot Sessions, and co-director of Bloodroot. They serve as a trauma-informed healing artist and space holder.
Angela Clinton
Angela (she/her) is the coordinator of Bloodroot Retreats, co-director of Bloodroot, radical heart + body cheerleader, session witness and workshop facilitator.
Terna Tilley-Gyado
Terna (say Tayna, she/her) shows up to Bloodroot as a caring holder of people, body + energy based psychotherapist, session witness and workshop facilitator.
Lisa Graustein
Lisa (she/her) brings color, creativity and deep care to her role as workshop facilitator, space cultivator and holder for the bodies and hearts of those who attend Bloodroot.
Elizabeth Nearing
Elizabeth (she/her) offers her hands and heart to Bloodroot through her exuberant care of others, joy-filled workshop facilitation and hostess with the mostess super skills.
Brandon Hutchinson
Brandon (she/her) brings her gentle fierceness to her role as session witness. Offering her healing presence as a deep listener, reiki practitioner and workshop facilitator.

Bloodroot Retreats are a space for cis women, non-binary + trans people who are comfortable in an environment that centers the experience of those socialized as women.
INVESTMENT
We have taken a tired approach for the Bloodroot Alumni Retreat and made doing a Bloodroot photo session optional at this retreat. The full cost (without a photo session) is $1,200. For those who need financial assistance it's $1,000, and for those who can afford to pay more it's $1,400 .
To attend the retreat and have a private Bloodroot photo session, the investment is $2,000. Included in that fee is 5 digital images of your choice, an 8x10 fine art print and the option to purchase more digital files, framed images and albums.

A NOTE ABOUT PHOTOGRAPHY PRICING...
We believe that having printed portraits serves as a reminder of what you tapped into during your time at Bloodroot. As such we have shifted to prioritize getting your images into your hands in tangible form. We now mail each Bloodroot session participant a beautiful 8x10 fine art print from their session and offer you the opportunity to purchase beautiful products with our support. After the Collective Witnessing we take you on a step-by-step process of getting your images printed, framed or bound in an album.
An important shift in Bloodroot is that we have adjusted how we work with the pictures from your sessions. We acknowledge that Rachel had been giving their work away for the first few years of Bloodroot which wasn't making it a sustainable project. To remedy that, we no longer give the whole downloadable gallery.
If you choose to do a Bloodroot Session, the retreat investment includes the whole experience, food, housing, your photo session and 5 digital images (this is 2 more images for our alum than our general retreat)! Additional images, the full gallery and all products are available for purchase during a one-on-one sales session held over Zoom. We have found these purchasing sessions to be a really beautiful and important part of the process that gets prints into your homes and helps us sustain the work of Bloodroot.
